Wait… how did we even get here this fast?! Feels like I blinked and suddenly “we’re here.”
I recently turned a year older, and let me tell you, adulthood is hitting differently. You know that moment when you show up somewhere and suddenly people are calling you “aunty”? That’s when it hits you that we’re officially the “new aunties in town”. Not sure where the new uncles are hiding though 😅.
It’s wild, isn’t it? It’s such a strange stage of life where so much is happening all at once. One minute you’re the one being told what to do, the next minute you’re the one everyone is looking up to. Some are already married, while others are still thinking about it, others are chasing careers, hustling, or figuring things out as we go. Our parents are retiring, responsibilities are piling up, and suddenly we’re the ones holding things together.
🥲Who approved this upgrade? Because honestly, I wasn’t done being the “baby of the family” yet 😅.
But here’s the truth, not everyone has it all figured out, and that’s okay. This stage of life is messy, beautiful, stressful, and full of growth all at once.
That’s why I’m starting a new blog series called “The New Aunties in Town”. It’s a space to talk about adulthood in youthful ways. Over the next few months, I’ll be sharing stories, reflections, and conversations around this chapter of life, adulthood, responsibility, growing up, and that strange but exciting feeling of becoming the people we used to look up to.
I’d love for this to be an interactive space. So please join in the conversation in the comments. Share your own “new aunty” (or maybe “new uncle”) moments with me, and let’s share, laugh, reflect and figure this stage of life together. 💛
Hello Abby, #Besty! Thank you for sharing this beautiful idea that will soon start to spreading to us the new aunties😂in town. I look forward to the amazing discussions, and I wish you all the best in this new journey of your blogging 😘
ReplyDeleteHeyyy Pookie!!! 😍💃🏽 Thank you so much for the love and support. You already know this journey wouldn’t be the same without my “new aunties in town” 🤭💕. I can’t wait to have those fun, deep, and maybe even a little dramatic 😅 discussions with you all. Stay tuned, because this ride is just getting started 🚀✨.
DeleteSuch a beautiful stage of life 🥹 I once tried to ‘help’ by rocking the baby to sleep, but I think I rocked myself to sleep first 😅.
ReplyDelete😂😂 Ohhh I felt that one!! Honestly, rocking a baby should come with a warning label, “Side effects include accidentally rocking yourself straight into dreamland.” 💤🤣 These little ones have the real superpower😂❤️
DeleteCan’t wait to see the series unfold because it’s kinda crazy how fast time flies.
ReplyDeleteHaha right?? Time really said “catch me if you can” 😅💨 I’m so glad you’re glued for the series, it makes me even more excited to keep sharing! Thanks so much for stopping by and commenting, 💕 please stick around, we’re just getting started 🌸✨
DeleteGirl….tell me about it! lol I’m enjoying every moment of being a new aunt though, it’s an interesting journey watching the “new kids” grow and learning to be that “cool aunt” and figuring out the perfect balance between spoiling them and teaching them valuable life lessons is an adventure.
ReplyDeleteBills?? Sips tea ☕️ 😁 story for later….
Hahaha yesss! Being the “cool aunt” really feels like we signed up for a whole new job description 😂. Honestly, I’m loving this “auntie era” too, no manual, just vibes and a lot of trial and error! And the bills? 😅 Let’s just say… we’re all sipping that tea together ☕️💸.
DeleteAnd before we know it there will be another series called “The new grannies in town” 🤣🤣
ReplyDeleteHahaha, right?! 🤣 I can already see it. The saga never ends! 😆
DeleteWe are now the role models that they look up to.
ReplyDeleteyes! 😎 Time to show off our superpowers!! 💃✨ #RoleModelVibes
DeleteHey sis thank you for sharing this …I think I was okay with being the elder sis or cousin but now I am at the age of being aunt😂😂Like even kids around be saying aunty can you help me with this and that……like when did we get here!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI feel you! 😭 These kids coming at us with life’s emergencies like we signed up for this 😂💃 it actually hits faster than we realize! 🥹
DeleteI don’t know who approved this upgrade but I am looking for them because I just want to talk 🥊🥊😂 But seriously, this whole idea of being “the adult” or “new aunty” makes me so nervous most of the time. I barely have my own life together and now society has placed me on a pedestal.
ReplyDeleteThank you for this platform 💕, I look forward to sharing my own experiences and feelings toward the “new aunt” era. I also look forward to reading and learning from the rest. 🤗
I feel you! 🥊🥊😂 Society really out here handing out “aunty badges” when we’re still figuring out life ourselves! But hey, that’s exactly why this space exists, to laugh and survive this “new aunty” chaos together. Can’t wait to hear all your stories! 💕🤗
DeleteThis sounds interesting am tuning in
ReplyDeletePlease do stay tuned🥹 you won’t want to miss this! 💃🏽💃🏽
Delete😂😂😂 I swear this hits… it’s like you wrote down all my thoughts! Love this🥹❤️
ReplyDeleteOmg, thank you!! 🥹❤️ I’m so glad it spoke to you. I’m literally feeling your energy! Glad I could read your mind before you even said it 😎❤️🥹
DeleteTell me why walking along the road with kids playing is now, 'aunty you look nice'. What do you mean by " aunty" ?, I'm just a baby, atleast I thought so. I appreciate the looking nice part though..
ReplyDeleteHaha! 😂 Right? I guess “aunty” is just code for “you’re too cool to be ignored” 😎 … just a stylish “new aunty” now! 💃✨
DeleteThis is good idea💡b because I feel good someone addressing me by aunt especially when children are fighting 😔😅
ReplyDelete😅 I totally get you! Nothing hits like “Auntie, sort this out!” suddenly you’re a superhero 🦸♀️💥 Love that you’re enjoying it!
DeleteGood job 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 something worth reading
ReplyDeleteThanks you so much! 😄 So glad you enjoyed it. Please stick around, we are just getting started! 💃🏽✨
DeleteNew aunties in town 😅… this stage is growing so fast, suddenly everyone depends on you. One minute you’re chilling, next minute you’re a babysitter, sponsor, counselor and emergency contact all in one 🤦🏽♀️😂
ReplyDeleteRight?! 😅 it’s like we we’re at a stage of running a full-on family hotline! Who knew being an “auntie” came with a PhD in multitasking? 😂💼💖
DeleteHonestly,it's like we went from being babies to being aunties. My friend was once told by her niece that she's trying too hard to be cool because she wore a short dress 😂
ReplyDeleteOh wow!!! 😂 😂 “Auntie” glow-up is real, and the shade comes free. 😎💃
DeleteThat’s such a real and relatable take 👏 adulthood really does sneak up on us. Excited to see “The New Aunties ( new Uncles) in Town” series sounds like the perfect space for these conversations!
ReplyDelete😅 Adulting really hits when you least expect it! So glad you’re here for the ride. Can’t wait to spill all the tea with the new aunties (and uncles) in town! 🍵✨
DeleteOkay I just got here and I've caught up with all the previous blogs😌❤️
ReplyDeleteExcellent work, the raw unfiltered and surreal feeling of familiarity with your pieces🥴🔥. It really is what it is lol
Okay now to the matter at hand💀😂 please we need a guide on how to "aunt" and adult😂haaa. Eh what do you mean at my tender age of 20 something I'm the one in charge of family matters, and let's not even get into the whole being a first born issue, like Dorothy said sips tea..another time☕😂
ReplyDeleteNo one really told us adulthood is a scam they just let us walk in it blindly.
